New Odessa was born for a film: Theo Angelopoulos' The Weeping Meadow.

It was built in a lake-bed and destined to live for a period of time as a regular village and then be destroyed in a flood. For all those connected with it the village was not just a set but a familiar place, which was lived and loved. Its brief life was an extraordinary experience which lives on today only in the memories.

Going back in time, the documentary attempts to record the chronicle of this unique adventure, the chronicle of a unique village that was born to die.
